As much as I love Naxos by exploring by foot and car, I love it even more by sea. There are lots of boat tours from these islands that give you the opportunity to view it in another way. It also allows you to see inlets and coves that are unreachable by any other way.

This tour has about 20 people, most from the US but some from Greece and the UK. It’s a windy but beautiful day.
The best part is jumping into the clear blue water, I’m not a good swimmer (stating the obvious here to anyone that knows me) but it’s easy to swim and float around.
We all share travel stories and we all share a love of Greece.
The best part of this trip? After we sail and swim we have lunch on the boat. It is the most delicious moussaka I’ve ever had.

The captain shares that it is made by a Naxos grandma that holds a secret recipe. He shares his mother’s moussaka is not nearly as good. He says he can eat it every single day. I understand why!

It’s a beautiful and fun day. I highly recommend!
We get back at 4 which leaves some time for a late beach visit and some reading. My reading is going slow as I’ve met so many lovely people but I’m happy with the trade off

It’s just a really nice way to end the afternoon.
As I’m heading out for dinner solo, I get a text from my new friends from Germany who invite me to join them for dinner. I’m happy to turn around immediately and head their way
They are at a cool restaurant called Drink in Peace, at the top of many steps toward the castle.

It’s a beautiful place with amazing food, but the best part is spending time with Hafid and Tomas. They are a beautiful couple from Munich, together for 30 years. We talk about everything. I mean everything. It’s so easy and interesting, I adore them and so thankful we met. It all started with Hafid asking what I had ordered at the Italian restaurant a few nights ago.

Hafid and Tomas, if you read this I hope you know how much I adore you. Thank you for including me.
Thankful for a safe, fun, relaxing day in Naxos. One more full day here then on to the next island!
