In Skiathos Town there is an open air cinema that shows Mama Mia, tickets are hard to get and now I can see why. It is a blast. People dress up in Mama Mia outfits, ushers dance on stage and everyone sings throughout. You can’t help but be happy!

I get a standby ticket and sit next to Steve and Lisa from the UK.

As I get to know Skiathos, I really fall in love with it. It is, as promised, a bit of a party island. Lots of “stag” and “hen” parties, lots of young people, lots of bars and in general a late-night vibe.

My vibe is focused on the beach and exploring. With all the choices of beaches, I fall in love with the Beach House at Kiolos beach. It’s quiet but not too quiet, always music playing. A lovely cove, comfy sunbeds and great food.

Another plus is that you can reserve a sunbed the day prior. This may seem like a small thing but there is quite a sunbed game on these islands….if you arrive much after noon the beds are taken and you are out of luck. A lovely British couple owns the Beach House. I meet them on my last visit there and share what a great experience it has been.

Throughout the day there I move around to swim, eat and read. Toward the end of the afternoon I find a shady spot to sit and read. So happy.

The next morning I find, quite by accident, a great cafe along the water called The Mint. Great place for an early coffee.

I hit a bit of a wall with fatique and allergies, I sleep until 11:30, congested and coughing. I get to experience the Greek medical center as I want to make sure I don’t have covid or anything more serious. Here is how it goes:

• Find medical center as recommended by hotel
• Walk in, greeted by doctor and escorted into an exam room
• Get examined, take Covid test and provide ID
• Given prescription
• Walk out 17 minutes later

No Covid and some meds to minimize congestion before any more flights. No HIPPA, in fact no paperwork. Well done Greece!

Back to the beach.

As I wrap up my stay in Skiathos, I just admire the beauty of this island. I highly recommend this island and feel like there is so much more I could see. Every conversation shares another beach or hike or sailing trip that would be a great add to a future trip.
