Hello Alonnisos!

The Sporades Islands

I’m saying goodbye to Skopelos to hop over to Alonnisos. It is truly a hop as the ferry ride is only 15 minutes. I loved my time in Skopelos but I do want to see each of these 3 major islands in the Sporades.

Arrived

This island is known for its rich marine life and is a protected habitat for the Monk Seal (which I’ve never heard of I guess because it is rare). This draws a lot of divers and marine biologists.

I arrive in the small port town of Patitiri and am met by Angelos, the owner of a small family-owned hotel here.

Angelos Design Suites

Angelos runs the hotel here during the 5 or 6 month season then goes back to Athens. But he shares that he travels all around the world during his off time. He says that it is important for him to understand world culture so that he can be a good host to people that come to stay here. I think this is beautiful.

The view

I walk around the small town and have lunch in a seaside cafe.

The many steps of Patitiri

I’m meeting new friends for dinner. I met Jules on the Flying Dolphin ferry, she and her husband Tony were coming to Alonnisos, the stop after dropping me at Skopelos. We had shared travel stories and contact information. Ironically we learn that we are staying at the same hotel and meet for a nice dinner. We talk about travel, world events and family. At dinner we decide to do a boat tour to see and understand the scope of this island.

The best and funniest moment of dinner is seeing this guy

The things you see….

On to the boat tour!!
