Last day in Skopelos

My last full day here will be a slow and lazy one. I sleep in late and head to my fave coffee shop to read my book for a bit before I explore Skopelos town.

Swell coffee shop, my Freddy cappuccino

The rhythm of travel, especially solo travel, is interesting to me. When I arrived here from Hydra just a few days ago, I felt disoriented and really wondered if I would like it here. I was tired after a long travel day and questioned why I had even chosen to come here. After a night of rest, I began to fall in love with this island and began to understand its special and unique vibe. It is so different from the Cyclades (Mykonos, Santorini) with all of the green trees. The water is some of the purest I’ve seen. And the people that live here are so proud of their island.

I spend early afternoon just walking thru Skopelos town, and realize it would take a lot to truly find every hidden path.

The end of town
Always room for a cafe
The colorful streets
The church at the end of the town
My favorite shop but one of many
A little of everything
Tough choices

I could spend days exploring. The people in every shop and cafe have been kind and welcoming.

I spend the afternoon at Milia Beach, amazing blue water. At lunch at Milia I see their proud photo of the Mama Mia cast from 2007

The Milia taverna

To finish the day I eat at a local taverna and try the island specialty, pork baked with plums. It is delicious but my god it is enough to serve 3 people! Each time I can’t finish the food, they say Is anything wrong Lady? I take the massive leftovers and feed the hotel cats who also love pork with plums!!

No clue on the name of this taverna
Baked pork with plums. The island specialty. This massive plate of food was $10.50
The Olia Green hotel, my home for a few days
The Olia pool where they serve breakfast
The view is the best part

As I think about leaving and continuing my island hopping, I’m very happy I got to experience this beautiful place.

Thank you Skopelos!
